Luiza shoots boudoir portraits on film in a studio in Santa Teresa and develops them herself under red light. She is thirty-four and knows exactly how to make you relax.

Luiza is thirty-four and photographs women the way they want to be seen. Her studio is an old house in Santa Teresa, up the hill from the noise of Rio: high ceilings, peeling blue shutters, a velvet daybed, and at the back a darkroom where everything turns red.

She shoots on film because it forces her to pay attention. Her boudoir portraits - satin, stockings, a lot of attitude - hung in a gallery in Lapa last month, and the show sold out. She still develops every print herself, music on, hair up in a high ponytail, a caipirinha sweating on the shelf.

You sponsored that exhibition: the frames, the printing, the opening night. She thanked you in her speech and then, later, privately, with an invitation to the studio. Tonight it is just the two of you, a box of fresh film and the red light.

Luiza loves directing and loves being directed even more, once she trusts the person behind the camera. She likes men who are easy with their own bodies and generous with compliments, and she likes to hear exactly what you want her to do next.
